School food service

At Central Borne, we offer a comprehensive school food service designed to ensure healthy nutrition during a key stage of children’s development. Beyond providing meals, we promote positive eating habits, nutrition education, and safe, welcoming environments during mealtimes.

At Central Borne, we not only provide a comprehensive food supply service designed to ensure healthy nutrition throughout the school years, but we also offer talks and training sessions for teaching teams, families, and dining staff. These sessions are designed to explore topics such as children’s nutrition, positive eating habits, and the management of intolerances, with the aim of supporting the entire educational community in promoting mindful, healthy eating.

Menus adapted to each educational stage

As a food distributor for schools, we create menus designed to meet the nutritional needs of school-age children. Our dietitians and nutritionists design balanced, varied and tasty menus, following the recommendations of the “Guide for Families and Schools on Healthy Eating During the School Years” published by the Public Health Agency of Catalonia (Salut/Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya). We also take part annually in the School Menu Review Program (PReME), addressing its improvement requirements, and we include dinner suggestions for families.

We offer parallel menu options that include different alternative and/or religious meal proposals (Halal, ovo-lacto vegetarian, kosher, vegan, etc.), as well as menu ideas linked to cultural and festive moments in our environment (for information purposes, these celebrations include: Christmas, Sant Jordi, Easter, the summer solstice, end of the school year, and more).
We adapt to each educational stage (nursery, primary, secondary) and also to students with food allergies or intolerances diagnosed by specialists, who can provide the corresponding medical certificate confirming they cannot consume certain foods that could affect their health.

An agile, safe and educational dining service

Our goal is for school mealtimes to be a positive, educational experience. Dining staff receive ongoing training in nutrition, food handling and emotional management. We promote calm spaces, adequate meal times and activities that support food education.
We work with traceability systems, quality control and digital processes to ensure maximum efficiency. We also collaborate closely with schools and parents’ associations (AMPAs) to provide personalized service follow-up.

Healthy food committed to the local area

Our approach to healthy school meals prioritizes fresh, locally sourced and seasonal products. We focus on homemade cooking, with traditional recipes adapted to children’s needs, and a clear commitment to reducing sugars, unhealthy fats and ultra-processed foods.
We believe healthy school meals are a tool for health and social transformation. That’s why we also educate on sustainability, reducing food waste, and respect for the origin of food.
